COAST KIDS: Kindergarten through 5th Grade

Coast Kids is our ministry to K-5th grade. Each of our 4 classrooms has their own awesome singing time, as well as exciting Bible teaching, and then a small group time with an emphasis on making the Biblical truths connect with their young lives. And of course, kids have tons of fun hanging out with friends and caring leaders. Bring your Bibles, your friends and join us!

The 4th and 5th grade class also provides occasional events throughout the year, including a week of summer camp for incoming 5th graders!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this just a babysitting service?

Definitely not! The preschool program incorporates age appropriate teaching time to help build a foundation for understanding God’s love.

Kindergarten grades and above starts with 15 minutes in praise and worship, followed by a 25-30 minute fun teaching time, and ends with 20 minutes in small groups to pray, recite memory verses and learn to use the Bible.

Each child must be completely signed in before they can be admitted to a room.

For babies (children under 2-years old):

  • Visitor Policy: First-time visitors to our ministry must fill out a yellow registration card for their child. We use this to record pertinent information and the dates your child visits. After 3 times, the information is recorded in our computer system and your child becomes a “regular attender.”
  • The sign-in sheet: Once your child in a “regular attender”, you can complete your check-in process on the computer at the entrance of each room. If there are any special needs that we need to be aware of (i.e., allergies, custody issues), please inform our team when you check in your child.
  • A sticky nametag: The adult checking in the child must fill out a sticky label name tag to stick onto the child’s back. These name tags are used to give our team members any necessary additional information needed to better care for your infant.
  • A number: The greeter will give you a number for your child. If your child should need you or if the team member needs to contact you, your number will be displayed on the number system located in each venue. If your child is inconsolable, we will alert you. Your child will only be released after the assigned number card is presented to the classroom team member.

For children two-year olds and older:

After 3 times, the information is recorded in our computer system and your child becomes a “regular attender.”
  • The sign-in sheet: Once your child in a “regular attender”, you can complete your check-in process on the computer at the entrance of each room. Your child’s name tag will print from our system. If there are any special needs that we need to be aware of (i.e., allergies, custody issues), please inform our team when you check in your child.

For children Kindergarten to 5th Grade:

  • Arrive at our Coast Kids registration table in front of the classroom. Fill out a registration card for each child, with pertinent information including any medical concerns or special needs.
  • On the fourth visit to our program, your child will receive a permanent name tag.
  • At service end, we ask that an adult picks up the child inside their class, checking out with the child’s teacher.
  • Please keep our team informed of any needs your child may have– we consider it a privilege to serve your family!

All North Coast Church staff and volunteers are background checked and Live Scanned prior to serving within the Children’s Ministry.  We are thankful that so many quality volunteers have stepped forward to help teach kids about the Bible and to encourage them in their walk with the Lord.

We encourage parents to take their children to the restroom before the service begins. However, if the need arises, there are bathrooms in the classrooms through 3rd grade. Our 4th and 5th grade students are escorted to and from nearby restroom facilities by a classroom volunteer.

For the safety and respect of the children in our classroom, if your child has a runny nose, cough, or fever, please do not bring them.

We encourage you to try a smaller service with small classes. Our service on Saturday nights is a great option.

THE BUDDY PROGRAM

During the weekend services, we welcome children/students with Autism, Asperger’s, Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD. This program currently focuses on infants through high school. Children/students are placed in an age or developmental appropriate mainstream classroom with a volunteer during the church service.

This ministry is available with prior notice during the Saturday evening and Sunday morning services on the Vista Campus. The volunteers, who are called “buddies”, work one-on-one with the kids in the regular classrooms. They also communicate spiritual truths and the love of Jesus during the time spent with each child/student.

To make a “buddies” reservation for a weekend service or for more information on volunteer opportunities in this ministry, contact Marcia at mboeche@northcoastchurch.com.
