OUTDOOR PROJECTS

Help enhance the natural beauty of the local area by improving the community forests, trails and nature preserves.  Work may include planting, trail maintenance, trash pick-up, weeding, pruning, digging, and re-establishing native trees.  Since the Covid Crisis started, these partner organizations have put projects on hold, and really need some help tidying things up now.  All the projects are OUTDOORS and are keeping up with social distancing guidelines.  Groups are being limited in size and masks must be worn at all times.  Volunteers are highly encouraged to bring their own tools.

North Coast Church has sponsored a section of I-5 freeway in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area via their Caltrans Adopt-A-Highway program. Help leave a lasting impression with hundreds of thousands of motorists each day, and sign up to keep the freeway clean.

The Discovery Center hosts a ¾ mile walking trail and a large native-species garden exhibit. Both require consistent maintenance. Volunteer activities can include monitoring restored sites, removing invasive plant species, repairing minor erosion problems, trimming overgrown vegetation and other general maintenance.

Their mission is to improve, enhance and restore Fallbrook’s environment through the re-establishment of native trees. A wide variety of ongoing projects and programs include reforesting Fallbrook Land Conservancy preserves, the Downtown Treescape project, on-going maintenance of downtown trees, Adopt-a-Tree and Adopt-a-Road programs.

Check out the Monserate Mountain Preserve Restoration and Pico Promeade Trail and Park Maintenance.

Ivey Ranch is a horse-riding therapy recreation center for people with a range of disabilities and special needs.  Volunteers will help beautify the surrounding areas to ensure a therapeutic and positive environment for all.  There is plenty of space to spread people out, but be sure to bring your mask and work gloves.

MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP

Donate online to support North Coast Church ministries that are committed to serving our church and our community.

Blood Drive

There is no known end date in this fight against coronavirus and the Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors to maintain a sufficient blood supply for weeks to come. Extra precautions are being taken to ensure everyone’s safety.  North Coast Church is hosting blood drives to help. The Red Cross will appropriately distance the beds and everyone’s temperature taken prior to entering the room.

No walk-ups.  Make an appointment today! Choose your location and date.

Create Toiletry Kits

A great way to serve seniors who are homebound during COVID-19 is by providing necessary toiletry items. Make as many kits as will fit within your budget and make arrangements with Grace Chapman to drop off at the Carlsbad campus of North Coast Church.

A beautiful way to serve our local seniors is through the gift of a Blessing Bag; a little care package filled with fun treats and an unexpected surprise to brighten their day.  Make as many as fits within your budget and drop off at our partner senior homes.  Feel free to get creative and include a special homemade card, which are always greatly appreciated.

Pack food boxes.  Good for five or less people. Must be 16+ yrs.

Scroll through their volunteer section to find available times. If dates are “grayed out” then they are closed, but availability changes as people cancel, so check back.  If text is not grayed out, sign up.

The Foundation helps provide services to seniors who are home-bound but live independently at home. They are providing emergency grocery delivery for seniors 65+, disabled and immune compromised individuals.

Most needed items:  PPE supplies such as: face masks (N95 and regular surgical masks), gloves (non-sterile gloves are also helpful), wipes and hand sanitizer.  Purchase on-line and deliver to the hospital.
