The Corner Café on the Vista campus has made some changes to meet the various needs of our church attendees and their friends. With delicious food options, specialty drinks, comfy seats for fellowship and free Friday night entertainment, this could become your new favorite hangout. Manager Nicole McNamara would like that. Since joining the North Coast staff in June, she has devoted many weeks into revamping the Café to be just that – the place you want to come and hang out before or after weekend services, or any other day during the week (open 8-8 Sun-Fri, 4-8 Sat).

"I love the environment we’re creating here," she said. "I love watching people come in, open their Bibles to study or just grab a drink and visit with a friend." 

You can also get the inside scoop on the Corner Café by becoming a volunteer. Learn how to prepare fancy beverages, make a quick sandwich and smile at strangers as they come in. Volunteers work just three hours each week. "This has been a great experience and much more of a blessing to me," said volunteer Charles Reed. "I have never done retail. I’ve never done coffee. I was motivated to try something outside my comfort zone. I went in a bit green and Nicole was just wonderful to work with me and train me. She really wants you to succeed, and is there to help you do just that." 

Reed has a full time job outside of his volunteer time in the Café, but said the ad in the Bulletin prompted him to try something different. “I started a bucket list and on it said 'Do something different',” he said. "This was something different. Now I remember people’s names and even their drink orders. The blessing is that I’m much more connected and meeting people I would have never had the chance to meet."
