Why do you love cycling?
It's outdoors, it's fast, the scenery is always changing and you cover a lot of distance.

Why do you want to do the 2008 RAAM?
I love cycling and I think it's an awesome opportunity to see the country, strengthen friendships and compete in the longest race in the world.

Favorite snack?
Shot Bloks.

Average number of cycling miles per year?
Pleading the fifth.

Favorite cycling accomplishment or trip?
My first "race," a 109 mile century ride in Tucson called "El Tour de Tucson." I rode with my good buddies, Jeff Holmes, Mark Lund and Jordan.
   

FRANK PETERS

Why do you love cycling?
It's the simplest and most efficient form of transportation.  It's only limited by one's desire for adventure and a little sweat.

Why do you want to do the 2008 RAAM?
I haven't fully figured this part out yet. Actually, it'll be a great way to get into the best riding shape of my life.

Favorite snack?
Roasted almonds.

4,500.

Favorite cycling accomplishment or trip?
Vancouver, BC to San Diego, CA.
 

KARLA BOKHOVEN
Age: 29
Occupation: Project Engineer for DPR Construction, Inc.

Why do you love cycling? 
You see more riding a bike than you do running.  The descents are a great reward for the ascents.  
 
Why do you want to do the 2008 RAAM?
It will be a huge accomplishment physically and mentally.  It is a great opportunity to be able to train under and with the best, Pete Penseyres.  I am also looking forward to building fellowship with the team and spreading Christ's love by raising funds to benefit North Coast Community Service.

Favorite snack?
Popcorn.

Average number of cycling miles per year?
Approximately 1,500 miles.  I've had my road bike for two years.

Favorite cycling accomplishment or trip?
Completing RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) 2006.  The last day of the ride was our first wedding anniversary.  We rode with my dad, since he didn't get to ride the year before due to our wedding.

Why do you love cycling? 
It's an opportunity to get away from the business of everyday life, enjoy the outdoors, and I simply enjoy pushing my body through physical and mental boundaries.

Why do want to do RAAM 2008?
It's a great opportunity to bring attention the impact North Coast Church has in our community.  In addition, it is a privilege to ride and be coached by the cycling icons, brothers Pete and Jim Penseyres.

Favorite Snack?
Fig Newtons with peanut butter and honey.

4,000.

Completing RAGRBRAI, the ride across Iowa, with Karla on our first anniversary.
