WHEN is the RAAM?
The actual Race across America leaves the Oceanside Pier in Oceanside, CA, in two stages. The RAAM Team divisions all leave the Oceanside Pier at 2:00PM on Tuesday, June 11th. Thus begins their race East. They pursue the solo riders who have a 2-day head start (but who have to stop for rest at some point!!) and they race against each other.
WHY do a RAAM?
The North Coast RAAM Team believes that investing in our future begins at home, and we want to offer you the chance to join the challenge. Pledge your financial support to the RAAM Team and to North Coast Community Service. With every pedal pushed and with your generous support we will make a difference in our community. The North Coast Cycling Team wanted an out-of-the-ordinary way to bring attention and support to the North Coast Community Services(NCCS) efforts. In 2008 NCCS will be coordinating a major "Weekend of Service" with over 6,000 people volunteering their time on a wide variety service projects to benefit the local community. We need your support to make NCCS's efforts a success.
North Coast Community Services
In the past 12 months, North Coast Community Service teams (NCCS) have completed over 450 unique service projects and served 4,000+ meals to homeless families. By supporting this campaign and supporting North Coast Community service, you're helping 13 different local organizations we partner with including an AIDS home, several homeless shelters, local seniors, local military, and a resource center for pregnant teens and women. Additionally, NCCS has helped coordinate hundreds of community service projects and "Community Impact Days" performed by groups of local volunteers.
In 2007, NCCS coordinated a two-day effort with 5,500 volunteers at 92 projects. The result was $1 million in labor and materials put back into the community. We're already planning our 2008 event, and we need your support to make this effort a success!
The funds raised for "North Coast Community Service" will go toward expenses associated with RAAM and the various ways we impact our community including:
