Each of us must determine individually what part God wants us to play in reaching this goal. Making a decision like this requires a deliberate process, so we encourage you to work prayerfully through the following steps:
TALK TO GOD
Whether you are a new Christian, or have been walking with God many years, He has a role He uniquely wants you to play in this great opportunity to advance His kingdom. By making your decision a matter of serious prayer, you will be able to determine both His will and your role. Pray for specific direction and wisdom as to how you should answer His call.
IF YOU ARE MARRIED....PRAY WITH YOUR SPOUSE
If you are married, it is crucial the two of you agree. While partners often start at different places when it comes to major financial investments, talking and praying together almost always brings clarity and agreement. For some couples, a significant gift can be a great step in faith you can take together that will result in a stronger, healthier family. Only God and the two of you can determine how much you should give.
IF HELPFUL....TALK TO A FINANCIAL ADVISOR
It can be helpful to talk to a financial advisor, particularly if you are unsure what form your gift should take. Gifts of land, property, stock and paid-up life insurance policies are all options in addition to cash. Interested in giving stock? Print out some Stock Donating Information here (pdf file). Your financial advisor or our finance department here at the church can suggest creative ways to maximize your gift.
Remember whatever you decide to give to this project needs to be over and above your regular giving, in order to maintain the health of our current programs and ministry.
Also, these gifts can be spread out over a three-year period, so you may wish to take into account any anticipated changes in annual income.
Finally, request a commitment card and return it to the church office as soon as possible or submit one online.
