The Carpenter's
The Carpenter's have joined a PIONEERS team to help plant the first church in an ethno-linguistic group of 5 million people who have their own language and culture. This group, which is in Southeast Asia, has little access to the gospel because there is no church in the world that speaks their language.
Mission
• Give Christians in the region a vision for reaching this group who need to hear the gospel and recruit them to join our team to plant a church for this church-less people
• Train our church planters in the Bible, cross-cultural issues, and church planting
• Support, encourage, and mentor our church planters
• Help our church planters show the love of Jesus and build relationships in the community with development projects that meet the people’s needs
• Share the Good News!
About the Carpenter Family
(First names withheld for security reasons) After recovering from cancer at the young age of 16, I wanted to make my life count. I first read the Bible at age 20, and when I saw that Jesus said, “you must be born again,” I gave his life to God. After several years in the aerospace industry, I earned a Masters of Divinity at seminary and learned that Jesus calls the church to make disciples of every 'ethne,' or ethno-linguistic group of people (Matt 28:19). My spiritual gifts are faith, evangelism and teaching.
My wife grew up in church and went through Youth With A Mission training, including 3 months of ministry in Russia. She earned a business degree and attended seminary and is gifted in teaching and administration.
We have two young daughters and are members of another Evangelical Free church in Southern California. Our brother and sister-in-law, Jed and Johanna Gober, lead our support team as members of North Coast Church.
Current Status
We are in the USA raising awareness of the need and inviting people to partner with us in prayer and giving so that we can move to South-East Asia and begin language learning. When enough people have pledged to support us with a periodic donation, we will be able to go! We recently started visiting Sunday Night Encore on a regular basis and look forward to partnering with North Coast.
