Who Should be Baptized
Accepting Christ as your Savior and giving Him the steering wheel means you believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins and that by His death and resurrection, He bridged the gap between you and God for all time. If you have come to this point in your spiritual journey, you are ready to be baptized. At North Coast we want to celebrate your commitment to Christ as a church family.
Baptism is an outward symbol that shows the world around us that we are committed to living our life for Jesus. You do not have to be baptized to have a relationship with Christ any more than you must exchange rings to be pronounced man and wife. But if the inner commitment to follow Jesus has been made, then the outward symbol of Baptism should be as valued and as visible as the ring on a newlywed's finger.
The New Testament records the Baptisms of adult believers only. At North Coast we wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them. Baby dedications, however, give parents the opportunity to commit to raise their child in the faith until the child is old enough to make his or her own decision to follow Jesus.
"Those who believe and accepted His message were baptized..." - Acts 2:41
"But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News... and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women." - Acts 8:12
