Our Topics

Miracles of Christ by Dr. David Jeremiah
Jesus of Nazareth never worked a miracle without a good reason.  To study the miracles of Jesus is to take a mini-course in how to meet needs and how to build faith.  Every miracle Jesus performed met a need in someone's life and revealed another unique facet of faith.  Jesus only worked miracles in situations where faith was the key ingredient to a person's walk with God.  Whether the need was for food, for health, to reverse death, or to bring nature under control, Jesus met the need and proved that trusting Him was the foundation for a life blessed by God.  Come uncover 12 of Jesus' most powerful miracles and discover how, in every case, a lesson in faith is at the core.

My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers
Oswald Chambers is a man who lived a life that is described as being "abandoned to God."  Although he wrote this little devotional nearly 100 years ago, it still has the impact to refresh and renew our spirits, encourage our hearts and challenge our thoughts and actions.  Chambers writes with the understanding that "it's all about Jesus."  We will use his insights as well as our Bible and the encouragement of each other to bring a renewed passion and depth to our relationship with Jesus.  Our desire is that each woman's faith will be refreshed and energized, transformed into a life that has relevance and impact. Homework is about 15-20 minutes a day and is meant to be part of your daily devotional time.  If you don't already have a devotional time established, this is a great way to start a life-long habit.

The Mentoring Mom: 11 Ways To Model Christ For Your Child by Jackie Kendall
Here's a question for you to ponder:  Do want your children to grow up to be like you? If you're not sure about your answer (neither were we!), consider this:  whether we are the best example or not, the reality is that our children do imitate us -- which means we should probably be giving them good things to imitate!  As a mom, your daily example leaves a lifetime impression on the hearts of your children.  They learn to pray by listening to you.  They learn who God is by how He is expressed through you.  They grow to treasure God's Word as they see you commit Scripture to heart.  They develop a passion for Jesus, because yours is contagious. Any mom can be an awesome mentor to her children, and it's one of the most precious gifts she can give them. Through this study, we'll find out what it takes to be that great example that your kids will WANT to follow. Join us!

Living A Life Of Balance: A Women of Faith Bible Study Series
We constantly hear from the experts about balanced lifestyles-that we need proper rest, nutrition, and exercise. It's true enough that we need such things to maintain physical and mental health, but we also need spiritual balance. How do we manage all the challenges of daily life?  How are we handling the balance between faith and sight, between love and obedience, and between longing and contentment? When we consider the life of Jesus, and the example He left us, would you say He was balanced? You will remember He sometimes moved away from the clamoring needs of the crowd so that He might be alone; that meant needs went unmet. God means for you to live in equilibrium and balance!Only God can guide us toward the balance we desire, and it starts with our hearts. This 12 week study will help us get there.

Eat This Book:  A Conversation In The Art Of Spiritual Reading by Eugene Peterson
Are you ready to read the Bible as if you were a dog gnawing on a bone?
Author Eugene Peterson is convinced that the way we read the Bible is as important as that we read it.  Do we read the Bible for information about God and salvation, for principles, and "truths" that we can use to live better?  Or do we read it in order to listen to God and respond in prayer and obedience?
Eat This Book, challenges us to read the Scriptures on their own terms, as God's revelation, and to live them as we read them.  Within the pages he draws you into a fascinating conversation on the nature of language, the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, and the role of Scripture translations; included in the book is the “inside story” behind Peterson’s own popular Bible translation, The Message. Please join us if you are ready to be served with a nourishing entrĂ©e into the formative, life-changing art of spiritual reading.

Journal Keeping: Writing For Spiritual Growth by Luann Budd
Would you like to journal, but you're not sure how to start?  Or do you love to journal, but want some fresh ideas?  Journal writing can be a powerful tool for spiritual growth.  Some of the many topics that will be covered are dialogue journaling with scripture and interactive prayer journals.  The author writes, "My desire is that those who believe they cannot write, or who are afraid to even try, will learn to enjoy journal keeping, and find it a valuable tool.  And I hope that those who have been keeping a journal for years will be energized to pursue new ways of using writing for their spiritual growth.  The ultimate goal of journal keeping is not to have books full of writing, but instead to experience how deeply we are loved by Jesus and to grow more deeply in love with Him."

Traveling Light
Backs ache. Feet burn. Eyelids droop. We've all seen people like that. At times , we are people like that , if not with our physical luggage, then at least with our spiritual load.  We all lug loads we were never intended to carry. Fear. Worry. Discontent.  No wonder we get so weary. We're worn out from carrying that excess baggage. Wouldn't it be nice to lose some of those bags?  That is the invitation of author Max Lucado. With the “Twenty-third Psalm” as our guide, let us release those burdens we were never intended to bear.  Let us study how ,with the Lord as our Shepherd, we can learn to travel light.

Prayer:  Does It Make Any Difference?
Most struggles in the Christian life circle around the same two themes: why God doesn’t act the way we want Him to, and why I don’t act the way God wants me to. Prayer is the precise point where those themes converge, the place where human beings and God meet. In Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?  Philip Yancey explores such questions as “Why Pray?” “What Difference Does It Make?” “Does Prayer Change God?” “Why does God let the world go on as it does and not intervene?” “Unanswered Prayer: Whose Fault?” “Prayer and Physical Healing,” and “What to Pray For.”
